Welcome to the world of Rancho Springs

Follow the story of four childhood friends as they struggle to build their lives and friendships, and find a true love of their own. Set in the idyllic wine-town of Rancho Springs, these four interconnected stories unfold over a year -- each in a different season.

Spring is the season for fresh beginnings, and when Dr. Hannah Morgan patches up the young son of award-winning architect Ben Rhodes, sparks fly. Hannah can't shake the feeling of deja vu, and when she discovers her role in Ben's deepest tragedy, they will have to work past the pain to find the promise of forever love.

Mitch Black, a former nerd turned best-selling comic book artist, creates a kick-butt female superhero based on his unrequited high school crush. Tara Taggart shows up fifteen years later at Comic Con only to find she's his muse. Stinky Mitch, Tara's school nickname for him, is nerd no longer, and she falls hard. Tara has her own story and is about to run smack into a troubled past she's tried hard to forget. This former teen music idol was a has-been by nineteen -- one minute on top of the world, and the next afloat with no foundation. She pursues a new dream and becomes a successful winemaker, but still hasn't faced the people and place she loves but left behind. Drawn to Love is set during the bountiful autumn Pinot Noir harvest.

Rancho Springs Book Four - Drafting Now

Summer sizzles when Grant Ryan's company threatens to redevelop the historic charm of Rancho Springs. Feisty sculptor Ella Black, proprietor of Blackhouse Studios and President of the Historical Society, becomes the irresistible oppositions to Grant's immovable cool sophistication.

I am a teacher at heart (and in real life) and love speaking at workshops, on panels, or to groups. I also love speaking to students of all ages. I am a credentialed high school literature and writing teacher, and will graduate with my MFA in Creative Writing Spring of 2018. If you are in need of a speaker or instructor, here are several of my craft workshops:

  • The Path of a Hero: Using the hero's journey (mono-myth) plot structure and archetypes to create exciting prose that will resonate with your reader.

  • Think Like an Author: Go beyond the what and enter the world of why. This workshop is aimed at teenage writers (and readers) who would like to work on critical analysis of story -- not just what an author is saying in their writing, but why are they making specific choices and how do those choices develop character, theme, plot, and setting.

  • Mapping out a World: Sequences (interconnected stories) and Series are so much fun to read, but oye! it's a lot of work for a writer to keep the details straight. This is a nuts and bolts workshop on how to lay out multi-book arcs.

  • Weaving in Romance: Whether romance is your A storyline or B storyline, explore how to weave a strong romantic arc into your story. This goes beyond a three act structure into the romantic beats that must be hit.

  • Not Your Mother's Bodice Ripper: What is this thing called women's fiction and where do I fit as a writer on this genre's spectrum?
